Wow. The 2014 Mortimer Country Food Fair was the biggest ever, with more people, lots of sales for the stalls, and a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day. After two years in which we veered from torrential rain to the hottest day for ten years, this year the weather settled down and the blue skies made for a marvellous back drop to everything that went on.
A huge great big thank you to our guests Jo Brand and James Strawbridge. Both of them gave their time as a favour and because they support the values of the fair, and both of them travelled a considerable way to be with us.
Needless to say they were both delightful and really interested in the ideas that lie behind Mortimer Country Food Fair. We are so grateful to them for their support which definitely brought people to the fair from outside the immediate area.
Another great hit at this year’s fair was Martin Blake and his Whiskey River Quartet. We have wanted to book Martin for some years as he has a fantastic reputation, so it was superb that 2014 was the year when we were able to succeed in bringing him to the fair. His brand of Southern American Cajun music was the perfect accompaniment to such a sunny day.
Next year’s fair is scheduled for Saturday the 11th of July, so if you would like to come then put it in your diary today !
